Second example

House rules: Atlantic City, 6 decks shoe, doubling on 2 cards, splitting up to 4 hands (6D, S17, D2, DAS, surrender is not allowed). Cut off is 75 cards.

Player: Playing a modified basic strategy, altogether three hands with the following bet increases:

The used card counting system is the High Opt II.

Deviations from the basic strategy in the following hard cases:

At TC=1,2,3,4 stand on 16 against 9 or T of the dealer.

At TC=5 and above stand on 16 against 8, on 16 and 15 against 9, on 16,15,14 against T, on 12 against 2,3 and double down on 9 also against 2.

The RC-TC conversion is to be done with an accuracy of 1 deck (the given RC result should be divided by the number of the remained whole decks).

1) Start the BJ777 simulator program.

2) Select the Tutorial02 profile from settings of the simulator.

3) Click the right mouse button on the House and Players combo box to open the player settings window. A new profile will be created in this window. Find and select the <New...> command in the System combo box. Then you should give the new profile a name. Write in the Example02 name. You can create and activate the new profile by clicking on the OK button.

4) Now create a new strategy. Activate a box and click the right mouse button on the strategy selecting combo box, to develop the strategy settings window. Select the <New...> command in the Strategy combo box. Write the name of the new strategy ( 6D S17 D2 DAS Counting example ) in the appearing window. Click on the OK button. By this you have created a new basic strategy.

After this make the following Recommended rules settings:

  • 6 decks
  • Dealer must stand on soft 17
  • Doubling after split is allowed
  • Doubling on any first 2 cards is allowed

Now use the Load button to load the general base strategy with these rules into the strategic tables.

5) In this example settings will be explained, by which you can improve the base strategy connecting the strategic decisions and bet increases to the results of card counting.

We deviate from the loaded 6 decks basic strategy in the following cases.

The hard table in the TC range from +1 to +4:

If TC is +5 or above:

Remark: for the sake of simplification in this example only deviations of hard cases of good situations are discussed.

If you want to read more about professional strategies visit the aceandten website.

6) You can connect the above tables to the selected TC values as follows:

Now there is a deviation from the basic strategy at two different positive TC values. In the program you can achieve this with 2*2+1 = 5 tables, because positive and negative ranges are handled symmetrically by the program and 1 table is reserved for TC values around 0. So it is necessary to fill in the following 5 tables:

A: TC = +5 and above
B: TC = +1 ... +4
C: TC = 0
D: TC = -1 ... -4 and below

In order to do this, click on the Set button:

In the appearing window set the five tables and the TC range limits +5 and +1 then close the window with the OK button.

After this the 5 ranges or tables will appear in the TC range window.

Remark: You can see only that one of the strategic tables which was selected in the combo box.

Then select +5 or above and set the strategy based on TC=+5 or above and repeat this for the other table as well. By this you have achieved that the simulator always takes decisions at the given TC values from the connecting table.

In the picture you can see the hard table belonging to TC values +5 or above, after the setting.

Tips: insurance can be switched on/off also by TC ranges.

7) Then activate 4 boxes in the player settings window as follows:

  1. 6D S7 D2 DAS Counting example
  2. 6D S7 D2 DAS Counting example
  3. 6D S7 D2 DAS Counting example
  4. not active
  5. (F) Random2 (randomly hit max 2 cards)
  6. not active
  7. not active

So in the first three boxes you put the professional strategy, which was set a short while ago, and in the 5 th a player hitting randomly.

Set the card counting system to High Opt II on the first three boxes. For the random player set the No counting strategy which does not count.

8) After that you can already start the simulation, but before examine some settings. Click on the More settings... button in the simulator window.

Set the random number generator to MT32 that is currently the most reliable random number generating method. Uncheck the fixed shuffle checkbox. The RC-TC conversion appearing in this window refers exclusively to strategic decisions (global setting at the moment). The conversion method of RC to TC is regulated by this. Set it to 1 deck accuracy. Rounding after dividing the RC should be set to Floor , as you make by this the slightest error.

Set the number of rounds to 100 million, burning to 1 card, skip to 0, cut off to 75 cards and start the simulation.

In the flat bet game the average result of the changes is -0.221% for the first three boxes. (Switch on the Summed checkbox and select the first three boxes ( Players 1,2,3 ) by that you actually get the average result of 300 million rounds.)

In comparison to the basic strategy in Example 1 (-0.362) you have achieved a significant improvement. (For the sake of deterrence let's look at the result of the random player. Switch off the Summed checkbox and select the box No. 5.)

Now let's look at a concrete bet increasing system!

As you have set 3 boxes to this strategy you can promptly examine a situation in that the player plays three hands simultaneously but opens two hands at TC>0 only. It is obvious from the above picture that in cases TC>0 you can already increase your bet ( Advantage of flat bet/Advantage column, resp. graph).

Set the bet multipliers according to the following pictures:

First box: (bet increase: 1,3,5)

Do not forget to set the number of the selected player at the bet multipliers as well (see the field marked by an arrow), otherwise all players will have the same bet multiplier (if All is in the field).

Box 2: (bet increase: 0,3,5)

Box 3: (bet increase: 0,5,10)

Let's look at the results!

Switch on the Summed checkbox and mark the first three boxes/players and uncheck the percentile display.

It is apparent that your average gain is 809 at a bankroll of 14949 = 150 units.

This means a winning of 8 units against 200 dealer hands played. Altogether you have played 335 hands.

Your average hourly rate is 404.

Let's examine the effect of cut off. Before running the simulator it was set a cut off of 75 cards, so you can examine cut offs higher than 75 cards only. Set the Cut off slider to 160 i.e. to round 3 decks. You can see the dramatic reduction of your gain but even so it is still 309.
